The Quad Basketball League began in 1946 when four men, Carl Joe Clark, Steven Braswell, Daniel F. Buford, and Paul Hopson got together and created a professional basketball league. The founders of the league asked for other interested parties to join the league. After this request, eight other individuals joined forces with the league, Virginia Jennings, Roger S. Davis, Ruth Warren, and Charles David Samuels. These eight people had teams in the cities of Booneland City, Mercer, Dorinda, Hardaway, Behen, Greenville, Maddocha Beach, and Caldwell.
